Appointed Minister of Economy and Finance since September 4, 2019, Mr. Adama COULIBALY is an Economist who has held high positions in the Ivorian public administration after a rich and long international career. Holder of a PhD in Economics obtained at the University of Paris 2 Panthéon-Sorbonne – France, Mr. Adama COULIBALY started his career in 1983, as a Teacher-Researcher, at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny University of Abidjan and at the Ivorian Center for Economic and Social Research (CIRES). In 1990, he was recruited by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). After a few years of activity within the Representation office in Abidjan, he joined the UNDP office in New York, as a Senior Economist, covering several countries. He was then appointed Deputy Resident Representative with responsibility for managing the UNDP office in Burundi. In 2008, Mr. Adama COULIBALY was appointed Country Director at the United Nations. In this capacity, he was responsible for the implementation of UNDP policy and programs in Guinea and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In this context, he provided much appreciated support to the Congolese authorities in the development and implementation of strategic programs to improve public finance management and results-based management. In January 2014, Mr. Adama COULIBALY returned to his country to be promoted to Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Economy and Finance. He assumed these high responsibilities until September 4, 2019, when he was appointed Minister of Economy and Finance.
